'It’s not IF you are bright, it’s HOW you are bright'
Our rangatahi will thrive at school and beyond. When they leave Huntly College, they will walk onto the world’s stage with dignity, purpose and options.
‘It’s not IF you are a leader, it’s HOW you lead’
Huntly College is the school for leaders. Whether you are a teacher or a student, you are a leader. We develop leadership in all of our people and know that there are many ways to lead effectively.
‘Akiaki te tii o te tangata’
We’re #HuntlyProud to be part of the story of Raahui Pookeka. Stories can be read, told, and created anew. As innovators and thinkers, leaders and readers, we are creating the next chapter in the story of Raahui Pookeka | Huntly. And the next chapter is about making sure that we ‘akiaki te tii o te tangata | nurture the indescribable light in a person.’
‘Huntly College is the school for leaders, and leaders are readers’
‘...Maa te maatauranga ka ora’: learning leads to wellbeing. Not all learning is to be found in books, however we’ve noticed that some of our greatest leaders are great readers.
Innovative curriculum design is at the heart of how we learn at Huntly College. Our saying, ‘akiaki te tii o te tangata’ informs this design. Equity and excellence are served by design for learning.
How we learn
Our innovative curriculum design is supported by the structure of the school day; a radically different timetable. Because learning shouldn’t be constrained by the timetable but enabled by it.
How we learn
Every young person here at Huntly College has an adult ‘champion’. This teacher guides and supports a group of aakonga | learners from years 9 - 13.
How we learn
Specialist subject learning finds its purpose in the ‘I AM’ modules. We don’t learn ‘for credits’ alone. We learn to discover how learning enriches our options for the future.
How we learn
Our Innovation and Leadership Academy and other career opportunities take place every Wednesday. Pathways are about readiness for further study, University, and employment.
How we learn
Get involved! We have so much happening to help develop your skills, interests and passions.
We look forward to welcoming you to Huntly College | Te Kura Tuarua o Raahui Pookeka
