I am modules
he aha ahau? - 'i am' modules
Aim:
Quality teaching, quality learning, quality credits.
Every student will choose four Modules a Trimester which have been designed to IGNITE their passion for learning.
Every student will have the opportunity to EXPLORE, THINK CRITICALLY and use their imaginations to CREATE.
Each Module will start with ‘I am’ -
Some examples:
‘I am a photographer’, ‘I am a film-maker’, ‘I am a personal trainer’, ‘I am a builder’, ‘I am a statistician’, ‘I am a creative dancer’, ‘I am a rapper / poet / lyricist’, ‘I am a jazz musician’, ‘I am a media designer’, ‘I am a politician’; ‘I am an entrepreneur.’
In these Modules, the students will:
- Be able to choose a Module that excites them.
- Be taught the knowledge, skills and dispositions required to achieve success as ‘the builder’ or ‘the media designer.’
- Have the time to meet with people and visit people who are already successful in their areas.
Details:
- Four Modules per trimester
- Three levels of Modules – Foundation and Advanced and Whole School.
Year 11-13:
- Choose Modules for Trimester 1, 2 and 3.
- Will choose the Advanced courses or Whole School Modules.
- NCEA – 3-5 credits per Module.
- Year 11 – 80 credits over the year.
- Year 12 -13 – 60 credits over the year.
- Year 13 students need 14 credits for 3 subjects to gain University Entrance.
Year 9-10:
- Choose Modules for Trimester 1, 2 and 3.
- Will choose the Foundation courses or Whole School Modules.
- HCEA (Huntly College Educational Achievement) or NCEA credits assessed per Module where students are ready.
